In honor of Father’s Day on June 21st, Humboldt Domestic Violence Services is calling on the fathers, guardians, role models and leaders of the youth in our community to take a pledge to work to end domestic violence in their everyday lives. Just to be clear, individuals of any gender are invited to participate in this pledge. The reason we are launching a Father’s Day pledge specifically is because we recognize that our community, and society at large, has a specific need for positive masculine and male role models. Strive for healthy relationships in my life by refraining from using any form of physical, emotional, or psychological violence in any of my relationships Utilize my support networks if I am struggling to refrain from using violence in my relationships, and I will seek professional help if things feel out of control Support survivors when they tell me their stories and experiences by refraining from victim blaming words and behaviors Take action when I witness or suspect that assault, harassment, or abuse is happening Model healthy relationships for others in my life, and talk to youth about the importance of having safe, mutually respectful relationships Support my local Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence organization and its staff and advocates who provide services for survivors and education in my local community

I WILL WORK TO END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE. I PLEDGE TO:
